The Surrealism Website
Marcel Caram (-)
Marcel Caram, from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, in southeastern Brazil, creates
digital surreal paintings in Photoshop using his considerable drawing skills.
He discovered Surrealism while still young and was especially drawn to the paintings
of Salvador Dalí, René Magritte and De Chirico.
In many of his paintings he adopts the empty desert or beach with distant range of
hills, much used by Dali. Caram then peoples this landscape with enigmatic imagery
often depicted using saturated colours and smooth graduated tones. He often used
typical Dali devices such as a crutch supporting forms, even the burning giraffe.
He exhibits a mastery of perspective.
